Instruction

What I teach

I work mostly with kids, which means the job is equal parts technique, patience, and keeping the day fun enough that they want to come back tomorrow. Lessons are built around the person in front of me, not a script.

Life in a box

Home is where you park it.

This is my eighth winter living in a converted box truck. It has six heaters, 900 amp-hours of battery, a deck that folds out the side, and a habit of breaking down at exactly the wrong moment.

Winters are Aspen — teaching, early mornings, cold hands, good coworkers. The rest of the year is Moab, Bellingham, and whatever road connects them. The truck is the reason I can chase both.

About

Hi, I'm Rory.

Savatgy — “sa-va-chee.”

I teach skiing in Aspen and take pictures more or less everywhere else. Most of my days on snow are spent with kids, which is the part of the job I'd keep if I had to pick one.

I'm mostly plant-based, permanently curious about where a dirt road goes, and I share the truck with a rotating cast of cats. If you're booking a lesson you'll get someone who's genuinely happy to be out there — even on the cold, flat-light days.

Booking

Let's get on snow.

Tell me who's skiing, when you're in town, and what you're hoping to get out of it. I'll come back with availability and a plan.
